The Highline: A Pool and Theater
Studio: Frist Year Fall 2008
Faculty: A. Titus, A. Romme, D. Gersten and U. Wegman
We were given a set of existing architectonic elements - The Seagram Building and the portico of India’s Parliament at Chandingarah. Following this kit of parts we were asked to work with the High Line in New York City and the program of a public pool and theater. The driving idea for this project developed through an interest in a double horizon - the ground and the high line. From the necessity of a stair and a vertical screen comes a cross that connects the two horizons. As a result the cross exists in both elevation and plan.
